Inverter surge versus boost ratings

A portable power station publishes two output numbers: continuous watts, and a higher peak. The peak is only useful against a motor if it is an inverter surge rating. Several manufacturers instead publish a boost figure for resistive loads (heaters, kettles, some tools), labelled X-Boost, Power Lifting, SurgePad, or similar. That number is stored in this database, and it is not used to decide whether a fridge compressor will start.

Why the difference matters

A compressor or a circular saw draws a brief inrush several times its running wattage. The inverter has to survive that instant. A resistive boost path is a different circuit: it can raise the ceiling for a heater without describing how the inverter behaves against a motor. Treating the two as the same produces a confidently wrong recommendation on exactly the load that gets a unit returned.

The calculator, the refrigerator pages, and the scenario pages all call the same function. Ifpeak_is_surge is false, a motor start is reported as unverified, not as cleared.
